The Manipal University, Madhav Nagar, Karnataka has notified the admissions to the various Medical and Engineering Courses for the year 2008.

The admission to the different courses will be based on the rank in an All India Manipal University Online Under Graduate Entrance Test 2008 (UGET 08) which will be held between 3.4.2008 (Thursday) and 20.5.2008 (Tuesday) at a time slot to be selected by the candidate at the test centre selected by the candidate.

The test centres are Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Ernakulam, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Manipal, Mangalore, Mumbai and Pune.

The different courses to which admissions are regulated through UGET 08 in the Medical/Engineering streams are :

(i) Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) (ii) Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) (iii) Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) (iv) B.Sc Nursing (v) B.Sc Biotechnology (vi) Bachelor of Physical Therapy (BPT) (vii) Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) (viii) B.Sc Medical Imaging Technology (B.Sc MIT) (ix) B.Sc Nuclear Medicine Technology (Integrated B.Sc NMT) (x) B.Sc Medical Laboratory Technology( BSc MLT) (xi) B.Sc Respiratory Therapy (BSc RT) (xii) B.Sc Optometry (B.Sc OPT) (xiii) Bachelor of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology (BASLP) (xiv) BSc Accident & Emergency Care (B Sc AEC) and (xv) Bachelor of Engineering (BE)

Eligibility: Applicants should be Indian Nationals. Only those applicants whose date of birth falls on or before 31.12.1991 are eligible to apply.
Applicants should have passed 10 + 2, A level, IB, American 12th Grade or equivalent with the following additional stipulations on subjects, for the various courses


MBBS/BDS: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with minimum of 55 % marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. In addition, candidates will have to score a minimum of 50% marks in the UGET 08 for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses.

B.Pharm: Physics, Chemistry and English with one of Mathematics, Bio Technology, Computer science or Biology as optional with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and any one of the optional subjects.

B.Sc Nursing: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with minimum of 50 % marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.

B.Sc Biotechnology: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English with one of Bio Technology or Biology as optional with a minimum of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and any one of the optional subjects.

BPT/BOT/B.Sc MIT/BSc NMT/B.Sc MLT/B.Sc RT: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with minimum of 45 % marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

B.Sc OPT/BASLP/B.Sc AEC: Physics, Chemistry and English with Biology or Mathematics as optional with a minimum of 45 % marks in Physics, Chemistry and any one of the optional.

BE: Physics, Mathematics and English with one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer science or Engineering Drawing as optional with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects.

UGET 08: The Under Graduate Entrance Test will be held under 4 different Groups
Group I will be applicable for MBBS/BDS/B.Pharm and Group II will be applicable to B.Sc Nursing/B.Sc Biotechnology/BPT/BOT/B.Sc MIT/B.Sc NMT/BSc MLT/BSc RT/B.Sc OPT/BASLP/B Sc AEC courses. The test will be of two and a half hours duration and will consist of 240 objective type multiple choice questions with approximately 60 questions from Physics, 60 from Chemistry, 80 from Biology and 40 questions from English and General Aptitude.


Group III is applicable to BE/B.Pharm courses while Group IV is applicable to B.Sc OPT/BASLP/B Sc AEC courses. The test will be of two and a half hours duration and will consist of 240 objective type multiple choice questions with approximately 60 questions from Physics, 60 from Chemistry, 80 from Mathematics and 40 questions from English and General Aptitude. Both the Question papers will be in English.

The questions in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and General English will be based on the 10+2 syllabus followed by major Boards/ Universities. The detailed syllabi is available in the website www.admissions.manipal.edu

Online Entrance Test : Online Entrance Test assumes that the candidate has basic familiarity with use of computers including the use of keyboard and operation of the mouse. It is the responsibility of the candidate to acquire these skills before appearing in the test. In this mode of test, the candidate sits in front of a computer. Questions are presented on the monitor. The candidate has to submit answers through the use of mouse. The computer is connected to a server, which delivers the test, in real time through a reliable connectivity. In the rare and unlikely event of a technical failure during the test, the candidate may be required to attempt for the test again. Candidates must visit the site http://www.manipal.edu/ regularly to obtain latest news, information and updates on online entrance test.

Booking a test slot: Candidates must choose and book a test centre, date and slot of choice by using the Online Test Booking System (OTBS). This can be done after procuring the Application Form and Prospectus. The Prospectus will have a scratch card attached with it which will give the password for online booking. Applicant has to enter the application number and online booking password to log in to the Online Test Booking System in the site http://www.manipal.edu/

For UGET, the booking will commence on 10.3.2008 (Monday) and close on 19.3.2008 (Wednesday). Candidates will not be issued the e-hall ticket without booking a slot through OTBS. Candidates will have to provide the application form number, online booking password and other application form data while logging into the OTBS. Candidates are required to book their slots using the OTBS as per the schedule. OTBS will not allow the candidate to book a slot after the booking end date.

Applications: The application material can be purchased from Manipal University Admissions office by writing to the Director, Admissions, Manipal University, Manipal - 576104 by enclosing a request along with a Demand Draft for Rs.500 drawn in the name of ‘Manipal University’ and payable at Manipal, Udupi or Bangalore.

Candidates can also apply online. For online submission of application, applicant may click here , and follow the procedure for submitting application online. Candidates have the option of paying the application and entrance test fee through Credit Card/Net Banking or Demand Draft.

Candidates can apply for more than one course within the groups using the same application form.

Candidates desirous of applying for courses under Group I and Group II should send an additional DD of Rs.500 along with the application.

Candidates desirous of applying for courses under Group III and Group IV should send an additional DD of Rs.500 along with the application.

Candidates desirous of applying for B.Pharm course can opt for the course under Group I or Group III or both.

Candidates desirous of applying for B.Sc OPT/BASLP/B.Sc AEC can opt for the courses under Group II or Group IV or both.

Last Date: Candidates have to send the Form along with the DD of Rs. 1000/- towards entrance fee, drawn on ‘Manipal University’ payable at Manipal, Udupi or Bangalore to Director, Admissions, Manipal University, Manipal, Karnataka – 576104 so as to reach the addressee on or before 1.3.2008 (Saturday). MBBS at Wardha Medical
College : Apply before Feb 29


Mahathma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Wardha, Maharashtra invites applications from eligible students on prescribed form for admission to MBBS course starting from July 2008. An entrance examination will be held for selection of students on 20th of April 2008 at Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi and Nagpur. Those who are going to appear in 10 + 2 Higher Secondary Board Examination March/April 2008 are also eligible to apply.

The entrance examination will consist of multiple chice questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Besides there will be a paper on Gandhian Thought which consists of essay and/ or short answer type questions.

The prospectus and application form with syllabus,question papers of Gandhian Thought for the last five years, with model question papers of Physics, Chemistry and Biology can be had from the Office of the Dean by remitting a sum of Rs.1050/- ( including postal charge of Rs.50/- ) only by Money Order in favour of the Dean, Mahathma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sevagram, District Wardha - 442102 or by paying Rs. 1000/- in cash at the college counter. Candidates should write their full address in capital letters and phone number on the " space for communication and the space for sender's address" on MO form.

The prospectus and application form will be available from 6th December 2007. The last date of receipt of filled up application with entrance examination fee of Rs. 1500/- is 29th February 2008 and with additional late fee of Rs.100/- is 14th March 2008.

Eligibility

The candidate must be born on or before 1st January,1992. Must have passed 12th std exam under 10+2 system of Maharashtra State Higher Secondary Education Board or equivalent exam of any recognised Board or any Indian University with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually in each subject in one and the same attempt.The candidate must have obtained at least 50% marks ( 40% for SC/ST/VJ/NT/OBC) taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

The fee structure in this Medical College is that applicable to govt.medical colleges in Maharashtra. The Institute does not have any payment seats.

Amrita Engineering Entrance on April 20

The Entrance Examination for admission to the B.Tech Programmes for 2008-09 at Amrita School of Engineering at Amritapuri (Kerala), Bangalore and Coimbatore under the Amrita Viswa Vidya Peetham – Amrita Entrance Examination-Engineering (AEEE)- will be held on 20.4.2008 (Sunday).

Applicant should have a pass in the 12th standard or equivalent from CBSE or any State Examination Board or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks each in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Applicant should not be over 21 years of age as on 1.7.2008.

The Entrance Examination will be held for admission to the Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering Programmes available at Amritapuri, Bangalore and Coimbatore, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering offered at Bangalore and Coimbatore , Aerospace Engineering and Chemical Engineering offered at Coimbatore. Civil Engineering is likely to be offered at Coimbatore.

MBBS at AIIMS: Apply before Feb 29

The Entrance Examination for Admission to the MBBS course at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi for 2008, scheduled to commence in August 2008, will be held on June 1, 2008 (Sunday).

Applicant should have passed the 12th Class examination of the 10+2 pattern of examination or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and secured not less than 60% marks in aggregate in these subjects. Applicants belonging to the Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes or applicants who are Orthopaedic Physically handicapped, need only 50 % marks in aggregate in the four subjects. Those expecting the results of the qualifying examination by July 7, 2008 can also apply for the Entrance Examination. Applicant should attain the age of 17 years on 31.12.2008.

The sale of Prospectus-cum-Application form will commence on 9.1.2008 (Wednesday) through selected branches of State Bank of India (list of Branches available at on payment of Rs.500/- in cash (Rs.400/- for SC/ST categories). It will be available till 22.2.2008 (Friday) except at SBI Ansari Nagar (AIIMS Campus) Branch, New Delhi where it will be available till 29.2.2008 (Friday).

The Prospectus-cum-Application form can also be obtained till 22.2.2008, by Speed/Registered Post from Assistant Controller of Examinations, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi- 110 608 by sending an Account Payee Bank Draft for Rs.550/- (Rs 450/- for SC/ST) and valid till July/August 2008, taken in the name of ‘MBBS Entrance Examination-2008’ and payable at New Delhi, along with a request in which the address to which the Application is to be sent should be written in Capital Letters with Pin Code clearly shown. The words ‘Request for Application form for MBBS Entrance Examination 2008’ should be written on the top of the request as well as on the cover containing the DD and the request.

The Completed Applications should reach the Examination Section of the AIIMS by 5 pm on 29.2.2008 (Friday)
